Chiropractic Care

Chiropractic is a wellness approach that focuses on the correlation between the body’s structure and how the body functions. Chiropractic physicians typically use a variety of treatment approaches. Essentially, chiropractors focus on manipulation of the spine or other parts of the body with the ultimate goal of adjusting misalignment and enhancing the body’s natural ability to heal itself. Individuals may seek chiropractic care for many reasons such as neck and back pain; headaches; migraines; asthma; allergies; pregnancy; and colic. Chiropractors are the only professionals who are trained to diagnose and treat spinal subluxations. The word “subluxation” is derived from the Latin words meaning “somewhat or slight” (sub) and “to dislocate” (luxare). Therefore, the term ‘vertebral subluxation’ means a slight dislocation or misalignment of the bones in the spine. When a subluxation occurs, a chiropractor is able to correct the misaligned bone and allow it to return to its proper position. This procedure is called an adjustment, which enables the body to heal.

Acupuncture

Acupuncture is the procedure of inserting and maneuvering needles into a range of points on the body to relieve pain for therapeutic purposes. The term “acupuncture” describes a group of procedures that involves stimulating anatomical points on the body using various techniques. The acupuncture technique that has been most often studied scientifically involves penetrating the skin with thin, solid, metallic needles that are manipulated by the hands or by electrical stimulation.

Massage Therapy

Massage therapy is the scientific manipulation of the soft tissues of the body for the purpose of normalizing those tissues and consists of manual techniques that include applying fixed or movable pressure, holding, and/or causing movement of or to the body. Generally, massage is known to affect the circulation of blood and the flow of blood and lymph, reduce muscular tension or flaccidity, affect the nervous system through stimulation or sedation, and enhance tissue healing. These effects provide a number of benefits.
